Background

East Cheshire Hospice, in partnership with Ansa Environmental Waste Services Ltd run an initiative each year to collect and recycle local resident’s Christmas trees. Users of the service are asked to make a donation to the Hospice, and this year they raised an amazing £155,000.

Challenge

CRJ Services was approached to provide a shredder that could shred the xmas trees, turning them into a compostable product, that will be used across the parks, gardens and Cheshire farmland.

We take every opportunity to support our local community and were more than happy to provide the Doppstadt AK565 high-speed shredder with an operator free-of-charge in order to help this great cause.

Solution

“We are very grateful to Rob Symons and CRJ Services for supplying their high-speed shredder to us for the shredding of the collected trees. The shredder didn’t miss a beat, and helped the project run smoothly.”

A large volunteering team of over 150 people were out in force both collecting the trees from the residents, and assisting the recycling process at West Park, Macclesfield.

In its 22-year history, the initiative has raised over £1.5m for East Cheshire Hospice, who rely on donations from the community to continue their excellent work supporting adults facing life limiting illnesses.

We are so pleased that we could help support the project, and would like to congratulate everyone involved in making it the most successful year thus far.
